“I was taking Calc AB with Ms. Leena and was a little nervous about it at the beginning because I didnt know if I'd be able to keep up with the homework. But she did a great job explaining all the concepts and it was a really good way of adding to what I had learned in school. I used to keep away from FRQ practice/ word problems because I didn't understand them, but the way Ms. Leena broke down each FRQ into different steps helped me get through that apprehension and made me more confident in my ability to think things through for each question. If I didn't understand how to solve a problem, Ms. Leena would take the time to explain it again using a different example, always asking if I understood at the end. She pushed me to do slightly more challenging problems sometimes, and I never felt bad about not being able to solve one of them because she was always happy to go through the steps. More than the algebra-focused foundational skills, a big part of Calculus is being able to apply your knowledge in one topic to work out problems in another topic. This class taught me to use what I already knew to solve more complex problems. Overall, Ms. Leena was one of the most understanding, patient, and knowledgeable teachers I've met, and I would definitely recommend her for students taking Calculus.”
